Guys and St Thomas Charity
Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity is a pioneering organisation. Our goal is to make a step change impact on complex health issues affecting people living in the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. Through this work, we aim to learn about what works to improve urban health and use these lessons to have an impact nationally and beyond.
To help us achieve these goals, we are looking to recruit new Programme Managers to join our Funding Team with a background in using technology for social purposes.
We are developing a small set of ground-breaking long-term funding programmes focused on major local health issues. The first two of these programmes - Childhood obesity and Multiple long-term conditions - launched in 2017 and we will invest over £60 million in these programmes over the next ten years. We aim to be at the cutting edge of grant giving – drawing on insights from data and innovative practice to ensure that we have the greatest impact for and with our communities.
We are recruiting enterprising team members to be at the heart of this change and to strengthen the commercial and technology skills within our team.
We want to build on the exciting partnerships we already have in place to use technology to accelerate our programmes. Our current pipeline includes: working with a SME to scale up digital approaches to self-management; working with a technology company that combines genetic analysis with consumer goods insight to shift consumer behaviour; and working with the design agency Shift to develop a healthier alternative to takeaway on the Just East platform.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced, energetic team both to make a real difference and to accelerate your career.
Programme Managers make up the engine room of our Funding Team. They support Programme Directors to design and develop programmes and identify investment opportunities aligned to our programme strategies. They contribute to the Executive Investment Committee, which makes funding decisions of up to £2 million.
Programme Managers have the freedom to work with everyone from grass-roots community groups and social enterprises through to digital health ventures, public sector leaders and the corporate sector.
